The Other Side of the Storm

After yesterday's announcement from President Biden about not running for re-election, I'm sure there are lots of people asking themselves and in their group chats, "so what's next?" And that's a fair question to ask. There's a historic event happening every week, and a lot of Americans are going through fear, nervousness, excitement, or grief because of the climate of this country as a whole. It's like we are always in FLIGHT OR FIGHT mode here. But I'll be honest, it's exhausting that we're still trying to get it right 245+ years after America's founding. Maybe this was always meant to be chaotic. I'm kidding, but then again I just don't know.

It wasn't because I was enjoying the sun from my rooftop and ran to my apartment to turn on CNN when I heard that President Biden was stepping down that got me upset, but the idea that Democrats are supposed to be the party of "the nice guys", and we saw how our Commander in Chief got bullied out of re-election by his peers. It's shameful, but we've got to move on. We must fight to defend our democracy.

So now we are here, four months away from the 2024 November Presidential election and we don’t have an official nominee and it's been radio silence for many of the people who have made calls for President Biden to step down. But on the other side of this storm, there is hope. There is a rainbow.

So now, when you hear someone ask  “soo what’s next” after President Biden’s announcement, make sure you say, “what’s next is making history and ensuring our next President is Kamala Harris”! That is all.

It’s very sad to see how Biden was treated even with all the great work he has done for the Democratic Party. I am excited to get Kamala Harris elected as President and I am hopeful to see the Democratic Party unite around her and continue Biden’s Legacy.
